Connecting monitors to soundcard, what cable to use?

I want to hook up some active monitors (Alesis M1) to an Audiophile 24/96. I can't find my manual, but the cables I use to hook the monitors to my mixer are TRS 1/4". Do these active monitors require balanced cables, or can I use unbalanced lines?
