My little girl's first NWR post

She had this thing over in the mp3 forum where it promptly got lost on the second page. A song she wrote for her brother.

Joe's song

Like father like daughter.

Very good song there. I like your confidence in your vocals and the guitar playing. Did you double either the vocals or the guitar?

Nice guitar work. It keeps the excitment going behind her powerful vocals. The lyrics are great.
She sure sounds good.

Yo ! Go girl!!!!

Great guit intro and maintains energy thru-out!!

Vocals rule w/ passion, intonation and purity.

Merely a copyright track ??? Screw that ! A little tweaking & it's a keeper for yourself....male/female???? does it really matter??? I think not, considering your strong and sensitive presentation!

If you retrack the vocal, I would try to match the instrumenal intensity 100%. This cut falls short slightly in this dept. due to a couple of much needed 'growls and gutteral gritty vocalisations for salt & pepper.

I'd take the entire vox track up @ least 2 db and the guit down 1-3 db.

nice job! Go girl, GO!
Ralph

Not cluttered up with instruments that don't add to the song. The song has what it needs to have feeling.

Talking Hey

Thanks to acorec, Kramer, F_cksia, digitcallous, badgas and Flat-9...you guys know how to make a girl feel welcome.
Thanks to dad too.
BTW, the guitar is one track and the vocals too...I am quite surprised at the response I am getting. I do want to re-do this song eventually...maybe sooner better than later. I might just post something different...let me see what's in my hat.

Great song and great voice!! You sound like somone else I've heard before, but I can't put my finger on who. When I think of her I'll let you know.
Sounds like buck did a good job with you. Oh, by the way, I like the reverb you have on the song. I think it goes with the song. You record on a 80 or 160 don't you, anyway, it sounds like it has better effects than the MR-8.
Keep up the good work. I'm sure you are making your dad proud.

Cool geetar playing and very nice sounding Vox.

Since you may change recorders at anytime, may I suggest the VF160CDR?

I won't change within the next year. I will end up with a serious machine. I want to build a studio eventually and I want all of the bells and whistles. This is my first machine.

Since Nowhere's down right now....I'll have to listen later. I just wanted to mark the thread so I could easily come back to it.

What a deal.....having a dad that loves the same thing you do. Must be easier to get some of that equipment.

Unhappy

Not exactly...considering that any piece of electronic equipment or machinery or any other tangible asset with moving parts I buy always breaks as soon as I touch it!!! I seems as if I've got some kind of bad electical aura and they just don't wanna deal with me!
As far as getting the equipment we correspond a great deal about what I should buy. He's got this down to a science in such a short period of time!

Hey kid,

Respect your elders...........otherwise I'll get your dad to put you over his knee for a good whippin'

Quote;........"What a deal.....having a dad that loves the same thing you do."

Lt. B,

That goes both ways............I count my blessings that my son and I share the love of music and recording.........on top of that we get to have twice as many guitars in the house.

I don't think the wife has figured out the method in our madness yet.

Well since I play in a band with my daughter, I'm very in tune with the whole dad/daughter thing. So I can say for sure that it's cool to have that going on.

now the song........sounds pretty good for an early effort.

A couple of things I noticed ( getting picky now, but someone has to )
There are some pitch issues with the vox here and there. Sounds like you already know that from what you've said about retracking it.
And the guitar part, while very cool, has some spots where the chords sound like they get blocked rather than ringing out.
Also, I didn't really care for the way the vox was EQ'ed. It had a boomy sound, a little too much energy in the low-mids area. You wouldn't need to recut it to get rid of that, just pull some of the low-mids out....maybe around350 hz or so.

But very cool nontheless and I really look forward to hearing some more stuff from you. Thanks for sharing!

Just wanted to chime in here and get a little gushy. Hey Kid, I love you, and this song. In reference to the afforementioned growls, etc.. , I agree and we'll do a number on that puppy if we ever get on stage.

Not Redoing

I'm not going to Re-do Joe's song...I have changed my mind. JOE is going to do Joe's song. It's a guy's song!
.....and be the man with the plan? Yeap, that's the last line to the first chorus. So, OKO listen hard...pay attention. You are now responsible.

As Cartman would say 'respect my authoritaaaaaay'
