Simple question

I am expecting delivery of some Yorkville YSM 1P powered reference monitors. They have 1/4" jacks and XLR outputs in the back. My soundcard has a 1/8" inch input. Am I looking at a "Y" configured 1/4"-->single stereo 1/8" inch plug situation? And just what type/brand cable will suffice for this type of a speaker/soundcard arrangement? Thanks in advance. ~~~Lee

Output from your monitors? The only outputs from your monitor are probably the the round things in front that vibrate. I'll make a leap of faith and assume "output" means "input" and "input" means "output:" in which case ...

... yes, most likely. It sounds like you understand what you need (even if you inexplicably insist on calling "outputs" "inputs").

I think Hosa is fine in this application, and not expensive. Other will likely disagree, sending you off for Mogami (or Monster?) and the like. But in the soundcard-to-Yorkvile world, I think Hosa is fine, especially since it sounds like this is going to be more "installed" rather than handled.

Thanks. Sorry for the confusion. I evidently was having a problem with my "ins" and my "outs". Never stopped my wife and I from having a son, though.

Swapping the ins for the outs works perfectly fine in that application

I use a cable I bought somewhere that has a stereo 1/8" jack on one end (into the sound card output) and two RCA female jacks on the other. I plug a heavy duty double male RCA cable into that cable, and on the other end I have an RCA female to 1/4" mono male adapter which I plug into the YSM1P.

Works for me.
