Roland Yamaha synch
hi.
this is my problem: I have some keyboard parts on a Yamaha QY100. I want to play them live with my band, but our drummer needs a click to follow the track. How can I have the keyboard parts out to the PA and my drummer with click in his cans? I think I could synch the QY100 with a Roland DR-600 drummachine for the click. Is this possible? How would it work? |

This is definitely possible. You need to connect a MIDI cable from the MIDI OUT on the Yamaha to the MIDI IN on the Boss. The sequencer menu of the Boss (which should be set to INT) needs to be changed to EXT. You may have to set the Yamaha up to trasmit MTC, not sure on that. Now you should be able to press play on the Yamaha and have the Boss syncronized with it. I would suggest making a pattern of woodblock or cowbell notes (1/4, 1/8th or 1/16th) at the same tempo of the song and using that as the click track. Hope this helps Stray |
