He made me a really sweet deal...

OKay, I go into the music store to buy strings and the owner tells me that yesterday was his worst day in 3 years. He knew I had the hots for this all metal resonator guitar and he says that he's ready to make a deal. He knocked 30% off his already on sale price and I left with a new resonator guitar!

Here's a pic

I've always wanted a National steel body. That's too cool for school.

Thanks guys! This one was made by Regal. I couldn't find a web site, but with a list price of about $600.00 it's a pretty good buy.

Scha-weet! You can never have too many guitars. A resonator is not something that everybody has either. I take it there'll be some slidin' goin on 'round 'der.

I remember seeing some in a music store as a kid and thinking they were the coolest guitars I'd ever seen.

Of course that was before I discovered rock & roll.....

It sounds like the Blues! Really the all steel body gives it sort of a banjo kind of sound. There isn't very much sustain, but it's louder than most acoustics.

I don't know. But, you can take a look at his web site and send him an E-Mail and ask about it. Tell him that "Ray the tattoo guy" sent you. Just don't expect to get as good of a deal as I did. I've been buying from him for many years. Check out his web site Click here

Nice,

The Birdman scores big!!

Can't afford one, so I'll just have to go with the Danelectro Resonator pedal hehe!

This is why I never buy new strings, temptation.

Put it in the clinic soon!!

Yeah, I've been thinking that I need to put something in the clinic sense I'm fast approaching my 1000th post and I haven't put anything in there yet. I'm just having trouble finding a song that my recording buddy is willing to work with me on. With this new guitar it should be a lot easier.

Congrats! I had a wooden body Regal that I traded in for the same model you got. I love the sound of the metal body for bottleneck blues.

Nice, now you can play on streetcorners with authority.

I'm thinking of getting the Jay Turser solid body resonator but still waiting for the tele to show up to see if I like their stuff or not.

I'm VERY happy with my JT tele. Although I did have to have the nut replaced, but the place I bought it from warrantied it.

Great, mine should be here in a few days. Still, it was dumb to sell the '72.........natural finish, black pickguard........shit.

Very Cool Man!

Is there any breaking in for the Guitar? Will the tone mature and get better with age like a hard bodies insturment? <--probably not.

man, nice guitar firebird!!

I want a steel resonator guitar so bad....but, I bought a strat and an SG and had a pro refret done on my '66 strat (and a nice lake placid blue paint job to boot)....at some point in time i have to break done and buy other equipment besides guitars.

congratulations on your new axe. There is nothing that sounds better than a resonator on delta blues (high end martin and taylor acoustics included)

May I suggest the Peter Green penned Oh Well for your initial post. I love the reso intro to that tune...

"Can't say much about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But, don't ask me what I think of you
You might not get the answer that you want me to
Oh Well..."

Peter Green? Cool song but I don't know if I'm up for it. I was thinking for doing Johnny Winter's "Evil on my MInd."

I don't have any mics, so I'll have to get over to Bdgr's place and do it.
