depends on the girl in question...
if shes more of a rocker pull out some cool covers of classics... if shes an emo freak...well, just play some mushy stuff, like dashboard confessionals...or some 80's covers...everyone likes those. freak |

whatever she likes(especially if she likes PUNK =),
classic (even these are mushy) is the best. such as "Romance"- even it's pretty easy or Recuerdos De La Alhambra (I like all Tarrega stuffs) i think typical 'mushy' songs are (often) cooler than anything! |

God, these guys are useless! Go listen to Heart! Listen to "Crown of Creation" by Jefferson Airplane (old, but beautifully engineered.) Mary Chapin Carpenter, Joni Mitchell "Wild Things Run Fast". Steeleye Span (Medieval/Celtic/Rock fusion). Juliana Hatfield (Alternative). Bonnie Raitt, Madonna, Tracey Chapman, Faith Hill. For really obscure, search ebay for a copy of Saloom, Sinclair, and the Mother Bear. Billie Holiday, Maureen Fleming, Diana Kral.-Richie

I'd second "Wanted Dead or Alive" and add "Sweet Child O' Mine", which is great because they are essentially the same chords, and also the only two songs by other people that I remember how to play.
The one downside to the Bon Jovi tune is you need a backing singer to scream "Want-ed-ed-ed!!!" after you sing "Wanted" but before you sing "Dead or Alive!" So you'll have to brings some of your buds, or pause awkwardly and wave your pick at your girl until she catches on that she's supposed to be screaming. Hmmm, that last sentence . . . sounds a little too familiar for comfort . . . |

i would tend to lean toward anything passionate that both she and i like. in my experience, this is extremely effective, though i think the singing is more important than the playing.

Camaro rock?
Hey why all the camaro rock? Find a copy of Depeche Modes "somebody" match up the three or so cords and and pick up the tempo. I think it's G, C, and A.
The lyrics are good and if she knows Depeche mode you'll get points, if not you will certainly look creative. My wife and I grew up on punk and New Wave and she flipped when she heard it. 'course I'm cursed with a Martin Gore voice. Good luck! Bicycle racer

Why Bon Jovi over Depeche Mode?
'Cause John Mellencamp didn't sing "Forget about all that macho shit and learn how to play synthesizer." |

I'll third the "Wanted Dead or Alive" motion and here are some other cool ones:
Mercyful Fate-Melissa (ask her to kick you in the nutsack for the high pitched notes )Judas Priest-Dreamer Deceiver (very beautiful ballad) Agent Steel-Still Searchin' (also a beautiful ballad) Snowy White-Bird of Paradise Boston-Amanda (replace Amanda with her name, as long as hers is 3 syllables... I mean, if she's called Hildegarten, it won't work. ) and the best: Quiet Riot-Love's a Bitch ![]() EDIT: if she's a 'rowdy' chick, just make her sing along to AC/DC's "The Jack" ![]()

Why DM over Bon Jovi?
Quote:
I think it's a lot more fun to take something a little outside the norm and add some creativity, makes it special. Doesn't work for everyone. The song I recomended I can barely stand to listen to now, way too synth and immature. I suggested rocking it out and mixing it up. Main stream works if you are singing to a main stream girl. Not my cup o'tea. If I had a chance to ride in an honest to goodness way-back machine, I would rather visit 30-40 cool people from the good ol' days than the general masses that listened to....saaaay, top 40. Yicky. Cheers, Mr. Peabody the Bicycle racer
