Rock song..need a bit of advice

Ok..this is the 3'rd song i've done..and was going for a more rocky sort of style. I think the intruments came out alot cleaner this time around but i'd like some suggestions. I feel it is still lacking something..not sure what.

Sounds very good actually! Thick.

I might consider cutting those guitars 1-2db each. It's very easy to boost guitars in rock...believe me i know.

I like the vocals in the chorus too.

I don't care for the guitar split coming back again at 1:50 ish. It does nothing to progress the song IMO. If it was about to jump to higher ground than anything preceeding, than it might work. But really it's just going back into familiar territory, so i don't think revisiting the intro is necessary.

I like the synth breaks too. Nice and full. Only problem I see there is it exposes the weakness of the drum sounds.

This is a helluva song with a lot of potential. It never really goes over the top though like it seems to want to. Keeps going back to the same places. Could be done in 3:00. By 4:00 I'm ready to have my head torn off by an army of pissed off guitars. Never happens.

Just some thoughts to possibly improve an already terrific sounding recording!

Nice interlude at about 1:10. I have to agree that it seems to build with no money shot. It teases me but never really puts out, so to speak. A burst of energy in the vocals and guitar at some point would really get my skin tingling. Go a little crazy somehwere 2/3 of the way through to take it over the top and then bring it back down. Just a thought. Another nice interlude at 2:20. Mix-wise it sounds well-done. I love the doubled/harmonized vocal. The single vocal needs something, but I'm not sure what. Reverb? Some kind of freaky effect? Anyway, I liked it. Nice job.

This song is just crying out for some drum riffing. I think the bass tone needs to be much more percussive as well.

You need to cut loose more on the vocal. It has that "trying not to piss off the neighbors" vibe.

I like the guitar sound. Some minor intonation issues there, but I think that's appropriate in the context of the tune.

I dig the vinyl noise piano break thing, and the general idea of the tune. If it was me I'd probably raise the tempo a couple clicks though.

Thanks for listening guys. I had a very hard time getting this finished...had probably 3 different chorus's vocal wise...ahh. Also remember that this recording was done with one mic plugged straight back into a sblive! with no pre or anything. Wish i had better gear then for this song.
When i wrote it i pictured it to get pretty ferocious but as i recorded it and added riffs it kinda just went this way...if you know what i mean.

The general consensus(including me) yes, it feels like its gonna get just so big it that it eats your head off but never does. Intentional..maybe. I like the little bridge detour at the 2:40 mark..without that i wouldve been stuck.

Sluice- Thanks..i think the guitars could prob be notched back a bit. With the panned guitars(intro bit) re-occuring...i found it hard to go straight from the verses into the chorus so i ended up deciding to do this to build into it. Maybe i could add something over it? Appreciate the comments on the vocals too..this is where i get nervous as its my most vunerable intrument. Since this song i have gained a lot more confidence and it shows in new recordings but its great to hear i dont sound like shite.

PiltdownMan- 'Nice interlude at about 1:10'--This is one of those riffs that you wrote about a year earlier and suddenly it fits straight in...gotta love those ones.

'Go a little crazy somehwere 2/3 of the way through to take it over the top and then bring it back down'- The end bit is prob the only place i could do this? Not sure..unless over the chorus..i'll think about it.

M.Brane- yeah after i programmed the drums and started recording i wished it was a bit quicker..but when i came up with the little instrumental interludes i'm glad its pace isnt too quick coz it wouldve sounded to rushed on the piano's. I wish i had someone else to do drums for me..i hate it. I love drums, but i dont know enough about them and hate spending time on them.

Really, thanks for listening guys..i'll keep playing with this tune i think. It could come up better with a bit more attention.
