Question Basic MIDI question for my TEST today!

I have test today and need a little help understanding the
LOCAL ON
and
LOCAL OFF
settings.

I just need a very very basic definition at this point.
any help is awesome

LOCAL ON -> The keyboard is connected to the sound generator.

LOCAL OFF -> The keyboard is disconnected from the sound generator. Keyboard events go only to MIDI OUT connector. Sound generator responds only to messages arriving on MIDI IN connector.

In LOCAL OFF mode, without anything connected to MIDI IN, you won't hear anything when you play on the keyboard (except the thumping of the keys! ).

If you have connected the keyboard to a sequenser (or something else) that echo the Midi Input and send it to the Midi Output, you'll hear sound from the keyboard...
