Hey cstockdale... 602A issue...
I've heard others say that once you fire up the phantom power that it won't shut itself off. Sure enough, mine does the same thing. So you have to unplug the board, turn off the phantom.
I've never tried it but it could just be that the phantom LED indicator stays on & the actual power is cut off... hmm.. ever run into this yourself? or anyone else??? Also, since I have to yank the cable to turn off the phantom, do you think this is as bad on my condensor as unplugging it w/ phantom on??

it is sad that I am an expert on such a lousy piece of equipment. That's me, the Behringer Eurorack 602A master ")!!!
As per the question. I have never figured it out myself! I have noticed that the light stays on even after you turn Phantom Power off. I probably should worry about it, but I never have, and haven't blown anything yet! I just turn it on when I need it and turn it off when I don't and don't pay attention to the light on it. Maybe I should unplug the mixer after I turn off phantom power to make sure it really is off. I just thought it was a quirk on my board, but I guess it is a design issue. |

Hmmm, now I know what it is: I am a cheap bastard,Needed a better card than an SB, so I got the AP2496, realized after the fact that I needed something to drive the ins and outs, so bought the cheapest tolerable mixer on the market, the Behringer 602A. Let me guess, you are stuck using SM58's and an amp modeller too? Maybe an Evolution midi controller?
Two years ago I was a guy who sang and wrote songs and owned nothing but two acoustic guitars, now I have all this gear, and very little of it is great,It is OK, but I approached it from the perspective " I have to start learning somewhere, and someday i will be able to afford better gear". What I would give for a Mackie board, a collection of mics, a good tube amp, a good keyboard, and a 10-in 10-out soundcard! Oh, and a bunch of preamps and more RAM and a dedicated audio harddrive and a faster CPU and room treatment and a bass trap and an iso booth and a Strat and a Tele and a 12 string and real studio monitors and Project 5 and a bass and and and and.... and a fatter paycheque to get it all! |

Yeah, unfortunately it's a real design flaw... I've been unpluging the sucker every time I need to unplug my condensor mic... blah..
Other than that I love my 602... I really don't know why people knock it so much because it has the same pre's that Behringers super high end stuff does... AND people mainly dislike behringer as a brand because they ripped off Mackies design & sold it at a lower price. Mine does everything I need it to do. My other gear is OK... I have a Rode NT1A which is a pretty good condensor from what I've gathered... http://www.rode.com.au/ Hate to say it but I've got a Radio Shack mic too... lol then my trusty 602A then of course my 2496 then Sonar of course... I was playing an old Ovation Celebrity Deluxe acoustic but just this week upgraded to a Taylor 314CE which I LOVE LOVE LOVE!! http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars...s.asp?id=314ce I've got an old Takamine 6-string that's probably worth about $50 bucks & I kept my Ovation... I've got a super crappy Hondo bass (bought for $80 about 10 years ago) & a pretty decent 200W bass amp (Fender BXR200) My PC is so so... 1.3G Celeron w/ 256RAM & 40G HD... it works though... My next buy will be a used Carvin AG100D http://www.carvin.com/cgi-bin/Isearc...2=AG100D&P1=AG and a Senhiser e835 for live vocals http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/.../base_id/73212 So.... in closing... letem say what they will, I'm glad someone else has some of the gear I do ![]()

Back to the original subject:
...once you fire up the phantom power that it won't shut itself off... I guess it must be a big capcitor discharging that keeps the LED on for a long time. |
