Unhappy HD24 rejects mounting Hard Disks!

I have been using with great pleasure my HD24 for a few months now, and all the sudden it is rejecting the original AND any other hard disk that get installed. It just goes for about a 70% and then it slows down and starts dismounting it.

I have tryed several brands, capacities and types of HD's so far and ALL of them do the same. I have replaced the cadies and also used both input bays with the same result.

Of course I have also checked the drives for proper jumper configuration.

The only message I receive is that the unit cannot reset the hard disk.

This kind of behavior makes me think there may be something wrong with the controler interface.

Has anyone exprerienced anything similar? and if so how did he get it corrected?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!.

Hector

There's been a lot of discussion about drives not mounting properly in the HD24 Forum, including recovering data on the drives (forum web address is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hd24/). Maybe one of those folks can help. If I remember right, most (if not all) of the people indicated that their drives were mounting 90%, but no more; I'm not sure if the issue was ever really resolved as to the problem. The fact that your drives mount 70% might be something different. In either case, if you haven't already done so, maybe try a brand new drive to see if it mounts, as well as contacting Alesis Tech Support to see if they have any additional information. Good luck.

I've been running an HD24 for about a year now with no problems but I'm very interested about any potential common problems with the unit. Let us know what you're finding out.
