Is there a version of pro tools free for xp?
or is there a way to get the 98/me version to work on xp? |

Have you considered a dual-boot setup (assuming you can get ahold of a copy of Win98 SE)? DonF

im not gonna do that just for pro tools. I already got cool edit, i just wanted to learn pro tools.

I think this might be a solution, but don't quote me on this.....
I think you can make XP "act" in capatibility mode with certain programs. right-click on the programs icon>Properties>Compatibility>Run this program in compatibility mode for:>Windows 98 / Windows ME It's worth a try. ![]()

i tried that , didn't work. I got the installer to run under the Compatibility mode, but the program never showed up. the installer said somthing like " maintence complete"

BTW have they given any indication that this situation is going to change? Considering the wide variety of software, including old DOS programs that required TSRs to run, that I have run under XP this seems like a deliberate limitation.

I heard from someone that they are going to come out with protools free for xp. I dont know if thats true or if it is , when.
