GAH. File format goofiness in CEP2

I recently started recording rough tracks in mp3 to save space. I don't know exactly how or when this happened, but now whenever I try to insert a wav into multitrack, it gets "expanded". After Cool Edit is done "expanding" my wav, it sounds all fucky and like shit.

It will open wavs fine in the individual track view. I can also insert mp3s with no problems into multitrack view. I've been through all the options and settings a dozen times or more. I think the program has set the standard of the multitrack sessions to mp3 somehow, and when I insert a wav, it tries to "expand" the wav for some reason. If anything it should be compressing the wav.

This is driving me nuts. Can anyone help me out?

In multitrack view after you insert the track right click on it and go into 'Loop Properties'.
Then deselect 'Enable Looping'.
