HD24 optical outs

I tried to use my optical outputs for the first time today and got nowhere.

I have a Terratec ewx24/96 card with an optical in and out. When I plugged output 1-8 of the hd24 into the input of the card I got nothing. I played with every button on the cards control panel but it never showed any input signal. Is there a trick to this?

Yes and no.

The optical port on your card is regular S/PDIF format (2 channels), whereas the port on the HD24 is in ADAT format (8 channels). These are not compatible.

True. They both use the same TOSLINK optical cable but two different formats.
