Ultrafunk goes under ????

Well, as these are effects plug ins, I though I would put this post here.

Got an email today that Ultrafunk has decided to call it quits. "Only the good die young," as they say. I thought their plug ins were truly the best bang for the buck plug ins out there. Top quality sound rivaling the Waves stuff at a much lower price point. Just another reason to use hardware I guess. I look at my rack and some of the companies represented there have been around for 20 years.

Here is the text if any one is interested.

Dear Ultrafunk customer,

We regret to inform you that we have decided to end all sales and future developement of our Sonitus:fx series of audio plug-ins as of Thursday 01-May-2003.

All products will be supported for six months after the above date, this also includes bug fixes and update releases for any critical issues that may appear during that period.

Currently we are trying to find another company or party that might be interested in taking over future development and sales, if (and
when) this happens, you will of course be the first to know...

Thank you all for your creative and valuable feedback through the last four years, we really appreciate it.

Keep up the good work!

Best regards,

The Ultrafunk Team

Well, now I can go onto Warez sites and download their plugs with impunity. I'm not going to feel guilty about pirating the software of a company that doesn't exist.

BTW, before everyone gets mad at me, I do regret that these guys didn't make it. I downloaded demo versions of these plugs, and they're great.

What a shame. They were definitely among the better plugs. Id rate them just below waves and timeworks. They definitely killed everything at their price level. The reverb, EQ and compression were probably the strongest though after picking up the UAD-1 plugs recently I havent really used much else.

that's just sad man!

Ultrafunk really had the best plugs.. I've been using the sonitus pack #3 for a long time now and haven't even considered going back to use them waves plugs.
Together with TC-native, ultrafunk rules.

and using hardware?? hahahaaaaa, ahum. sorry.
I haven't been using my rack since a year or two, since I got into nuendo!

it was messed up to hear this.. i just got sonitus pack #3... some of the plugins are better than waves. and i use waves platinum 4.
the main ultrafunk i use:
compressor R3,eqR3,multiband R3 and delay R3.. they sound cleaner than waves, i didn't think that was possible.. and they kill SX's plugins quality wise..

I talked to Rune over at their site. They are actually in the process of selling the software to another company who will pick it up and keep it running. If everything works out it could still be around.

I use this bundle exclusively. I sure hope somebody picks it up but regardless of who does they will probably mess it up somehow with copy protection, jacked up price, or something.

As you can see, this news has brought out all of my optimism

A comeback would be great news.
Interesting comments about the Waves plugs.
Sence I never had Waves to compare I figured being extremely satisfied with my work with UF and some Timeworks was probably due do not knowing better. But things are sounding GOOD over here, and I haven't felt much need for others.
