Behringer UltraGain Pro

Last night I picked this mic pre up last night. I plugged it in and had the gains down and was careful about levels, but I still heard a ton of distortion. Does the tube need a while to warm up? What the heck is going on?

What do you mean by a ton of distortion? What do you have your ultragain plugged into (tell us more about your signal chain and monitoring)?

I mean the signal was weak and distorted. I am plugged right into my Zoom 1044 hard disk from the mic pre. I have a Behringer B-2 mic plugged into the Ultragain pro. I am using the Pro 48V phantom power switch to power the mic.

Are you sure you are not overloading the inputs of the zoom? Are you using the line inputs on it?

Is it the same problem on both channels of the ultragain?

I have tried every combo of levels on the Zoom so I don't think its that. I am using the line input. I tried the mic input but it was weak. I did not try the other channel yet but that was my next venture.

Not sure at all. I assume I can check the specs on both the Zoom recorder and the mic pre to find out.
