As Ed said, transfering from HD24 to Sonar is easy. With the ethernet cable remember it IS slow. From my projects it has taken as long as 35 minutes per song depending on the size of the file. You can transfer a whole song at once and go do something else while your waiting..thats what I do. Im getting ready to by the Motu2408MKiii.It will speed thing up to real time transfer. It does work nice though!

I use a 2408 mkII and do real time lightpipe transfers. No problems so far.

Hi TrackRat, You use Sonar but have you considered ProTools? I use Sonar and it seems to be real cool! I thought about ProTools as it is the word on everyones lips that comes into my studio. But,from people I talk to the LE version is not as good as Sonar. I dont use Sonar myself, I mean I hire a guy to mix with it in my studio. I can get around in it but he is great with it. I think for the money its great! Oh, my Masterlink is crapping out on me all the time. Im taking it back to guitar center and getting a new one as well as a new HD 24. It has been giving me all sorts of problems. It has the old software 1.02. They are both 11 months old but they are going to give be both 2 new units!.... Im a good customer! GC has treated me very well I must say. My masterlink goes in hyper fast playback speed,o sounf outut meters are going and has terrible static! Damn thing!! The HD 24 wont take a hard drive at times. it says jumper failure...even though there is no jumper and it was working for weeks!! Jim

I'm actually using Cakewalk9 and regardless, I see no use in ProTools unless you need the portabilty to take your project from pro studio to pro studio and that would be the ONLY reason. I had a ProTools 001 setup at my studio running on a G4 power Mac for a year before I sold it and as far as I'm concerned, it's way over priced. Plugins are more expensive and while it's a fine system in its own right, I didn't think it sounded any better than the PC setup and ADATs I had running right next to it.

TrackRat, I believe there is a way to import a ProTools project into to Sonar isnt there??? And I agree with you with regards to ProTools, overpriced! With the little I understand about the two formats, I dont get the massive extra cost! You know people hear with there eyes. Its like a designer pare of jeans selling for 4 times wrangler! Its all in a name!
