ceiling height

Whats up folks?
Been workin on my first home studio here and I got the first of many future questions for youz guyz!
My apartment is set up with my bedroom above the livingroom and a spiral staircase connecting the two. The living room ceiling is 12ft tall, the bedroom= 8ft. both fairly large rooms.
My question: Which room would be better for recording in?
AND........
Would the taller ceiling be better for some instruments and the 8' ceiling work better for others?
Or should I just shut up and ask one question
at a time?

Thanks a bunch fellas!!

Generally, taller ceilings make for better acoustics. The exception might be individual instruments/vocals when you want a more in-your-face, "intimite" sort of sound. In rectangular rooms, the ratios of length/width/height can make or break the sound.
