Applying effects to portions of a wave

Hi all,

Is there a way to apply a VST effect to a portion of a wave (say for example, a verse)?

I can't figure this out!!

Cubase SX

you can activate and desactivate the aux sends in the automation tracks in SX

it's easy to do, i'm sure you will get it a 30 sec.
