two great synths, but...

I want to know what do you think...
I'm comparing the triton studio and the Motif (88key version).
Here in Italy I can buy the first for about 3800 euro, the other for 2600 only euro.
Looking the specs (correct me if I'm wrong), the yammy has more and more sample rom and a better sampler.
The korg has the "plus" of the touch screen ,the big number of presets and the internal hard disk...
In my opinion they are pretty equal in an overall judge, so what can justify the enormous price difference???
Is Yamaha selling his synths under cost???

let me know...

The Korg has a hard drive and a CD burner. The Yamaha figures if you want a work station you can buy their analog studio for 800 and still pay less than for a Triton.

The Yamaha has a complete new set of sounds. Korgs are ten years old.

The touch screen can work wonders. But for sequence editing on the fly you have about 4 more steps to actually perform an edit than the two touch for a Motif. The touch screen is also 300 bucks just to buy let alone the labor cost for replacing.

There are more expansion cards available for the Triton.

Thats what little I know at this time.

I just bought the Yamaha.

my point of view is this:
First I don't think that the 32 Mb of wave rom is a big limit. Take the example of Kurzweil: they have the best sounding synthesizers on the market with roms about 30 Mb.
A limit otherwise is that korg's rom is overused 'cause it's not very actual.
The touch screen is a big plus, but many people say that the Motif is however faster.
So I can't understand why I should spend a lot of money for the Korg...

I think also that the combination Motif + external hard-disk recording studio (or maybe a pc with Sonar or similar) is a more powerful system that the korg studio alone (and the total price should be lower than the korg alone...)

I have been through the same debate... and I am definitly going with the motif (rack module)

They both are awesome but I like the sounds of the motif better... and the price is right.

Once the tax man gives me my check, Ill be getting mine.

Oops meant a board and a rack module

I hear Kurzweils sound great , but none of the stores in my area have them on display. GC had em months back ( i remember ignoring them) but when i finally decided to take notice they didn't have a single unit to audition

I am sure that if you told Guitar Center that you were interested in buying a Kurzweil that they could get one in for you to try out. I am in Michigan and they shipped a guitar from the Chicago store because I wanted black! No extra charge or anything
I have a love-hate relationship with them. I love them because they are cheap and usually have everything that I need. But I hate them because about 10 stores in the area have closed since they moved in.
