cylindrical bass absorbers!!??

I've got some hard cardboard cylinders (tubes) and I was wandering if I could make some bass traps out of them.
I was gonna stick some insulation on the inside of the cylinders and on the outside as well. Close the tops off and seal them so the cylinders are air tight.
Then finally, wrap the (insulated) cylinders with some fabric and stick 'em in my room.
The idea came from here:
http://ic.net/~jtgale/diy2.htm

Would this work in my case with those cardboard tubes instead of the stuff that guy used on that site?
Oh yeah, the cylinders are 25 cm in diameter and 135 cm long (tall)..

Thanks heaps

cheers

Roker,

There's nothing particularly great about a tube shape. The main absorption mechanism is just the rigid fiberglass inside. There is some small advantage to the double layer, but you'll have a much better bass trap if you simply mount some thick rigid fiberglass in a corner. John Sayers' site shows how to do this, and my Acoustics article also includes this information:

Thanks Ethan,
I didn't think those things would do anything special, but I thought since I got 'em for nothing I might as well ask and see if they would do any good.
But thanks for your input
Much appreciated

thanks
