Yay!
Just got a call from the repair shop, my Prophet 5 is COMIN HOME!!! Took it in 3 months ago 'cos it was having some power supply probs, turned out to be some solder joints showing their age (this is a 1983 rev 3.3). Interestingly, the original 10-year battery is fine, they said no need to replace. $345, including scraping the J-wires, but it's only every 5 years or so. I have a Pro-52 and a K-Station too, but they're just not special like the old Prophet. ![]() |

I have a question for you. I have the Pro-52 software also. How close to the real thing is it? I've not had a chance to play a real Prophet. I have the FM7 stuff too, and thats a perfect DX7 in software.
Anyway, just curious. Enjoy that beast! |

I have the same question. The Pro-52 sounds rather thin to me. It might be my lack of programming abilities, or maybe the nature of a VSTi, but thick leads are hard to come by on this guy

Pro-52 has good sounds, but they're not identical. Supposedly the Pro-53 is much more analog-like, burt I haven't downloaded it yet.
52 does some cool extra stuff, particularly velocity. It's my analog VSTi of choice - kicks the crap out of the Model-E. But now that the real one is fixed, I might do more with it and less with the 52... |
