Activity in this forum

Now I am considering giving Sonic Foundry a try, but I see the activity in this forum is really next to none. Are there better softwares?

I guess I will stick to my SLaB!

Even though the activity seems low in this forum, Sonic Foundry products are truely great... I've been using Sound Forge and Acid since they were introduced with excellent results.

By the way - Sonic Foundry has several forums; you might get a better idea of how popular their software is by checking them out.

Um, the lack of activity in this forum may also be because the software is easy to understand and doesn't have a lot of problems.

I'd have to agree with the ease of use statements, though. I've used Acid and Sound Forge quite a bit and found them to be some of the easiest programs to learn. Probably looked at the manuals only a handful of times.

Agreed.

Recent reviews haven't been kind to Acid 4.0, but it's so intuitive! And SF 6.0 is da bomb. Haven't really tried Vegas - I've got the LE version.

Do any of you use it to record in or do you use it to remaster? or all the above?

Both, though I've started doing more straight recording into Cubase lately. And I've been told I overprocess - I think the exact quote was "wow, you really have a lot of faith in DSP...". So I've been pulling back.

Also use SF to transfer field recordings (choir concerts, mostly) from my Roland VS-840 to my PC.

My main use of Acid is a a starter bed for my tunes. Before 4.0, I'd line up the loops, then move to Cubase for the VST work. Now I do pretty much all of it in Acid, until it's time to add the vocs.
