Alesis HD24?

Im trying to get a feel for reliability, sound, functionality and overall happiness?

So what do ya alls think of them, are they worth getting away from the E-16 Fostex recorder?

To an E-16, no comparison (no offense ). I've had no problems so far and it's getting close to a year. It's seen a lot of duty in that time. My only complaint is the way it interfaced with my BRC. It just wasn't the same. It's a killer machine.

Great news
I was saving and pondering for a 2" machine, 16 track head stack even, but....
Im growing old I guess, but Im really not as productive I as I can be right now with R2R. My main problem is getting tape in a resonable amount of time at a reasonalbe price. The second problem is when Im in a hurry to get an idea down, upload sucks. The only way to speed up upload is to store the tape with tails in. So Ive been looking at upgrade to HD and the Alesis looks like it provides the most for the money.
I appreciate your comments and look forward to being a user sometie in the next year or so. Thanks so much

Peace,
SoMm
