Check your windows mixer and make sure the input is at an acceptable level.

Pro Tools free? Are you serious? How did you get Cool Edit Pro?

looks like a c2000 mic to me (okay, you mistyped.. could happen )

** I hope you have phantom power (48v) on? ofcourse you have.

** Check the mic-input signal fader in the windows-setting screen under 'sounds and multimedia' (or click the speaker icon on your taskbar)

** Check the output signal of your behringer mixer

** you could also use direct monitoring -> the 2004 for example

It's e.z. to check input signal in CEP (for example).. dubbel click on the VU-meter at the bottom of the screen. you'll get an input meter right away.

Dunno how to check in protools though...
(you can get a free copy at www.protools.com / www.digidesign.com)

Also, you should be using the line input, not the mic input on your soundcard from that Behringer mixer.

Adjust your Delta Console

If you have a audiophile soundcard, adjust volume from audiophile's delta control panel, don't mess with the computers default sound card. look for Delta Console in Start->Programs->Delta (or your sound card name) Good Luck!
