new mic

I'm planning to buy a new mic soon. I wnt a multi pattenr mic. Of course, I'm on a budget (about 300$ cad - 200 usd)

So, here are the mics I'm thinking about:

- Studio Project B3 (I already own a C1, witch I like pretty much)
- C1000s (this one dont have the Omni pattern)
- Behringer?
- MXL? (I actually use 2 mxl 1006 as overheads)
- ...?

any suggestions? the B3 is actually my first choice because it have cardioid, omni and figure 8 patterns.

Talking I'd go B3

I recently got the B3 and I personally love it.
I use it on just about everything from voice , guitar ,guitar cabs and snare drum and have yet to be disappointed in its sound.
The only Funkiness I have had is when using it in omni mode it does not seem to pick up evenly around the periphery. I may just be my microphone to which I probably need to return it but I am too busy with an album project to do so now.
I also have the T3 which is great as well. I have really gotten to love the multipatterns.
Incidently, I have the C1000s and the B3 is much better and MUCH more versatile.

If you a good reliable mic for that price, the KSM27 is what you should get. It doesnt have much color, but is very clear, and I use it on everything.

GT AM52

these Groove Tube microphones are no longer produced. But my local store still have a GT AM52 in stock, witch is sold at 299$ cad!!!

these mics were way more expensive! I think it's mabe a good choice. But, once again, I never heard one of those...

http://www.synthplanet.com/product.lasso?pr=5436
is still sold at 750$ usd! I can get a new one for 200$ usd! interesting!!

comments?

I have two Studio Projects B3 mic's and I like them a lot. IMO, the SP B3 is one of the 'best bang for the buck' mic's on the market.

I would second that. I love my B3. I've been using it in Omni lately to record male vocals and with a matched pair of 603's to record acoustic guitar. It's the best bang for the buck in it's price range.

I gotta agree with the B3 love going on here.

BTW, mentil69, Kryogh was asking for a multi-pattern mic, and the KSM27 is cardiod only.

* AT 4050 (might be a bit of a reach, budgetwise, but highly suggested)

* CAD M-177

Smile

Of the mics you mentioned, the B3 is by far and away the best choice IMHO.

I went to the store, and, I was looking for the all mics mentionned in this thread...and I saw it!

GrooveTube AM62. This mic was 1299$, and I bought it for 499$.

It's a tube mic (my first one) and it have more patterns that I was looking for

So i' very happy, cant wait to have a recording session with this one! I'll try it on every thing

I think most of us here were lead to believe you were on a much tighter budget -- but, I'm glad you found a mic you like.

the situation:

about my budget...

Last summer, I bought a drumkit - 1850$. A few month later, the 10" tom shell shown some problems. I went back to the store, and they simply ordered a new 10" and give me the new one. A few weeks later, the new 10" shown the same problems.

So I returned all the drumset in store and said -I dont want it!
It tooks about 2 months to get the credit, but I got a 100% credit of the price of the drum, 1850$!

So I bought:

-Focusrite VoiceMasterPro / 1100$ (tx in)
-SKB cases I needed / 400$ (tx in)
***then I was looking for a new mic***
-GT AM62 mic 575 (tx in)

So, my budget was 350$ (tx in) but when I saw the GT, I couldnt resist to have a good tube mic for this price

...nothing important in this reply..I'm just happy

Well, maybe you haven't noticed yet, but no one on this board says anything "important."
