Ireally would not know, but i'm very doubtful that, that ( is it around 10 bucks or so?) mic would stand up to the 58. However, I bought a Nady SCM900 about 2 years ago from musicians friend for $100 bucks. Now the're around $70 or so. But i really like this mic. I use it for lots of things. Listen to this song: "waiting for the messiah" http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/...d=1775&alid=-1 I used the SCM900 on: Vocals, Room mic (for the lead guitar and drums), then i ran it though a ART tbs Pre-Amp

here's where you can go to get info on the NADY SCM900:

www.interstatemusic.com

good luck,

ZEKE

"Apparently" the list on the SP5 is something like $89.99 but it could be wrong where I read that. I wouldn't compare the 58 to a $10 mic....I have one of them on my comp right now from when I got my comp and I wont even record onto it even for fun cause it's su discouragingly crappy sounding. Thanks for the help though. BJ

I think its the SP7 that gos for around $7 retail, but i dont know anything about either other than that my guitar player bought like 4 of em and there still in the box (i think) a year and a half later. I dont know why he bought em or why he didnt return em so dont ask. Nady always struck me as bein cheap- i could be wrong

Yeah Zeke I listened to it, cool tune and the Nady sounds good. I was only curious cause I saw one on ebay for $20 and they had the list up there as $89, there's no way this mic is $7 but I'm also not sure that it lists for $89........ah well , thanks for the help guys.

Nady VS Shure

I actually bought a set of 3 for $20 and i tested them with the shure sm58. I was surprised that it actually sounded the same, the only thing is with the shure the proximity effect is more present where as with the Nady you can get a close to touching the mic without the bass booming... the main difference is not the sound but the make, Nady doesn't seem like it will last for more then a year where as the Shure is unbreakable (almost) but do take into account that over time from dropping the mics the grille will dent and need to be replaced. With Nady's you can just chuck them and get new ones or use them as instrumental mics.
