Help,with tascam 688

My brother has left the area for awhile and left me his equipment.He said I could use the tascam if I could figure it out but Wow,it's a little different than the basic four tracks I'm used too.Apparently someone has a basic step by step thread on this site somewhere but I can't find it.Or if anyone could tell me how the basics work I'd appreciate it.So far i can only get it to play recordings but that's all.

I have one, the learning curve on them is rather large, especially if you've never used a porta- of any kind. Would you be interested in a copy of my owners manual? The copy place charges $1.00 for 8 pages, I think it's less than 50 pages. Also the postage and large envelope.
