Nero, InCD, and Nero Media Player?

I recently got a Lite-On 52x burner, and it came with Nero CD burning software, InCD, and Nero's Media Player.

Is Nero's stuff great to use?

How do they stand up to other CD burning software?

Which is the best?

I use Nero and I am happy with it. Its the only software of this type I have used so I cant say how it compares with others.

I love Nero, it's simple, gets to the point and is excellent and very reliable. I've used older versions of Easy CD creator before it got bought out (which I heard at which point it took a turn for the worst), used CD-WIN, and many other utilities.

And Nero has been the best, I won't even bother looking at any other software now. Except if I get a DVD-RW drive for burning DVDs, but since the newer versions of Nero support DVD burning, I'll probably never leave Nero as long as it's in business.

As far as the other Nero products, media player, I'd probably use something else as far as that goes. But that actual burning software itself gets two huge thumbs up from me.

Cool. I installed it, and you're right. It does look pretty simple and to the point. I don't like the looks of the Nero Media Player compared to something MusicMatch or Windows Media Player.

The InCD program sounds like a cool idea. I'll have to mess with it some more to figure out what all it does. Sounds like I should be able to do backups of my recorded tracks with it...

Cool

The INCD stuff is just for CDRW and as such is IMHO pretty much a waste of time. FUN for short term backup, but that is an oxymoron.

Here's my reasoning.

I've played with it and on the face of it, it seems like a decent plan- but step back a bit and reflect.

I've been doing backups for YEARS with CDR. I generally don't put too much time into deciding what must stay and what must go. I like to keep anything that I might remotely need but don't want wasting space on my HD, and I want it FOREVER. And I want it portable in case I have to use it on another system.

1) The cost of CDR space has fallen to ~8GB/USD.
2) Once you close the disc on a CDR the only way you can diddle with the data is to destroy the disc.
3) INCD type programs aren't really good at talking to each other.
SO: if you back shit up with CDRW and then your system dies you are pretty much stuck with the O/S and app that wrote these files in the first place. Fucking Useless IMHO!!!

I'm sold. Your opinion is greatly appreciated. What's a good way to run backups then? A friend told me tape backup is a real reliable option.
