Beef up my EDC705 Bass

I love my Ibanez EDC705 Bass, but Im not crazy about the Passive pickups. I heard theres Aguilar preamps out there that can be installed.

Has anyone done this to their bass? Hows it sound?

Also do they make a hotter replacement for the Ibanez installed pickups?
