Dragging, adjusting tracks in SONAR

Hi Guys,

How do I do it? I have two versions of a tune by Track Rat, and they dont match up.

I know how to drag, but I cant get it exactly where it needs to be.It seems to be "measured", and since they are different, I need it to be.. well. I think you get the idea.

Any advice?

Copy and paste from a thread I started... maybe it will help...

1) Select both the track to be edited & the reference track (the one that shows correct timing) and hit 'H' so only those tracks are up.

2) Put the 'current position cursor' (vertical line) on the place where you want the moved part to end up.

3) Select & move the part
Alt-Left-click & drag to select,
then left-click on the selected area & drag it so the part you want lined up lands where the vertical line cursor is.

4) Hit 'U' to return the view back to its previous state.

Not sure about Tubedude's approach since I've never used it.

But if you're having problems dragging things, it is likely being caused by having the snap-to grid turned on. Turn off the snap to grid, and you should be able to move the track wherever you want it.

Also, for very fine movements, I find the Slide command very useful. Set it to "ticks."

Thanks Tubedude, but still having problems.

When I drag a part, it doesnt give me an option of how far I drag it, it is measured. I want to "nudge" the part, I want to put it in a certain place by Ear.

It is almost like a " Snap-to" scenario, I want to turn that off and drag the part until I think it is right. Cheers

Yes, this is the stuff I am talking about. Where do I turn this off at?

James already gave you the snap to grid info. As for the "Slide" command, it is located on the Process menu in Sonar 2 (and on the Edit menu in Sonar 1, I think). Highlight the clip first and make sure the snap to grid is turned off. Then go to Process > Slide. Change the setting to Ticks and put a value in the "By" box. Negative numbers move the clip to the left (earlier) and positive numbers move it to the right (later).

Great tool for very fine adjustments.
