go to device settings and make sure you have selected your playback device to work as default in edit mode

Man, Im having the same problem... it just aint working for me either. But, it seems to only happen when working with something in Multitrack mode; if you have nothing in Multitrack mode going on, then it can play back in Edit Mode. I never had this problem till I purchased this new Audiophile 2496 soundcard. Whats up people? Help please!

Ok, mine works so far since i went to "Device Order"; and told CEP to use my device for "EV", which was not selected at first. Its playing in EV now since I did so, so hopefully it stays this way. If you figure out something Foo-bu, let me know, as I will do the same. Peace!

That's what I ment when I said you had to select the device for default in edit mode.

or..
set the WAVE MAPPER in device props/order to use in Edit mode now you will use your windows standard output card, which can be switched by clicking the little speaker icon in your taskbar.
