I wonder if this is an ASIO-thing...
When I used WDM-drivers (or was it before the 2.2 update?), I was able to arm a track, so when I press Play I could just hit 'R' and I could record on the track. But now with ASIO-drivers, it's not working! AAARGH! That was the easiest way to record bands playing live, and now I can't do it?Please, can somebody else confirm this?

Re: Punch-in Recording not working?!?!?

I've never seen or used that feature. Also, how do you know when to punch out? Also, I don't understand how this relates to a live performance. I can't think of when you could/would use a punch in for a live performance, because... well... it's live. ![]() For my punch ins, I just highlight the section of the track where the punch is to take place by left-clicking and dragging in the Time Ruler. Then I right-click and select Set Punch Points. This will establish my punch in and punch out points. Then rewind the track to anything before the punch in point, arm the track and click record. Sonar will only record in the selected area. Or is this not what you are asking. |

And forget about bands playing live. It's more a feature like the one you mentioned, but easier to use when you are two or more. That way you don't have to specify a certain time, you just hit R as the song play...

OK, moskus. I just tried it and it worked fine for me (learn something new every day
).I'm using Sonar 2.1 and WDM drivers. It's a pretty neat feature, although I'm not sure if I'll ever actually use it. I sometimes have a tendency to fall asleep at the wheel while recording, so I can easily see me forgetting to hit the R button the second time to punch out. I'm not sure if your problem is with Sonar 2.2 or ASIO. I have Sonar 2.2, but I don't have it installed on this machine here at work. If I remember, I'll try it tonight on my home machine. That machine has 2.2 installed, but it is not using ASIO drivers. That could help to narrow it down for you. |

Ok, it's the WDM-drivers. Just tested it again (damn forgot the Wave-profiler first time)....
Ok, I'll give WDM-drivers one more shot!

Just tested Sonar 2.2 with Aardvark Direct Pro 2496 and found -
- Works fine for MME and WDM drivers - Appears to work for ASIO, (metronome sounds, record button is depressed on the interface), but nothing is actuallyrecorded when playback is stopped. It looks as though the file is never created in the Audio Data folder. Give me a "B", Give me a "U", Give me a "G" - What's it spell? F@$K! Q.

And I think you're right: It has to be a bug! Long live Sonar 2.3! ![]()

Did you ever find an answer to this one? Or are we waiting in the Cakewalk "Too Hard" basket for the time being?
Ciao, Q.

Auto-Punch is great when you're working alone, but it can with advantage be left out when you are recording others, IMHO...
