Unhappy Midi/DXi not recording

This afternoon I am trying to record from VSC to an audio track. I have it set up all nicely, I can hear the music okay, I have the delta 66 ins and outs selected in the audio track, the recording levels check out okay. But when I record, the midi track prints okay..but the audio flatlines..no wav file generated. Any suggestions?

DXi's can't be recorded, you need to bounce it. Select the audio-output-track and the MIDI-tracks, and select Bounce to Tracks...

Thumbs up

Listen to moskus, Paul. I keep telling everyone that occasionally he knows what he's doing.

Highlight the VSC audio track and the midi track and Bounce to Track. If it is a mono instrument you are creating, make sure you change the default on the Bounce menu to "Mix to Mono" - otherwise you will get a stereo track that will be difficult to pan.

DXi's are great. You will create this track in just seconds, rather than having to record the entire thing as you would using general midi.

I don't know. It looks pretty complicated. I mean, 6 buttons... 4 faders... 5 knobs...

Put a large dia condensor about 6 inches from your studio monitor, into a nice preamp, back into a line in on your soundcard, and then... ok, I'm joking... gotta bounce it like they said. But this would work.

(is that enough humble pie? )

Very funny acidrock, but dachay is right, it looks far too complicated for me.

Thanks for all your help, of course, it works okay

Jameyz, thats showing off

BTW acidrock, (or anyone else) when you use Gigastudio, how do you record with it in conjunction with Sonar?

RE:Gigasampler

I just mute everything but the track I want to record and set the input to monitor mixer. This is why I would prefer a DXI .

GigaStudio, now you're talking Paul

My Terratec EWX24/96 came with GigaSampler LE. It's a crippled version in that it won't permit recording - but oh those sample instruments that came with it! Just superb quality. Grand Piano, two electric pianos, two bass guitars and two drum kits.

Your audiocard will need to have GSIF drivers to run GigaStudio. With GigaSampler you have to set it up so that your sequencer is accessed from inside the program. Once this is done, you can't run your sequencer as a standalone.

The same may apply to GigaStudio.

There is a very good forum over at www.tascam.com for GigaStudio. You will need some fairly grunty hardware to run it though, but I think your latest set-up will handle it with consumate ease.

There are some free Giga Instruments available, and there are some horribly expensive ones too.
