Smile converting mp3/wave to midi

hi there,

does anyone know how to convert a mp3 or wave file to a midi file using cool edit pro 2? please help..thanks!

I don't think you can do it. I just tried and got nowhere. MIDI files aren't an option in the SAVE AS list of file types.

If you understand what a midi file is, you'll know how impossible this is to do with a program like cool edit.

There are some out there, like the Audio-Ear thing and the GuitarSynth, but those are built for transforming specific types of information into midi data, not a midi file. But they don't really work all that well..

It ISN'T possible.... midi is not audio, it is event-driven commands that trigger sound-generators to play sounds.

Wav/mp3 -> Midi (not possible)

You can convert a midi to Wave or Mp3 using any audio engines, but you cannot convert a wave or mp3 to midi. Midi is just an audio data that triggers sounds from the module you are using.
