Thumbs up

Typing and listening...

I like the acoustic guitars. Nice and clean and well placed. Nice vocals. Mixed well...and I like your voice a lot. My girlfriend will dig this too.

The mix does tend to get a bit lop-sided with the left acoustic. But with the arrangement, it's hard to avoid that. Nice job!

Great quality. The background beat is kinda off and drops off too suddenly. Maybe fade that in and out.

Lyrics are cool, spacy and hip.

The acoustic guitars seem to be captured well. Same with vocals. Riff panned hard right is crisp.

Give that picking guitar (panned left) more action, more picks or riffs.

The ending is maybe too abrupt.

This song has big potential. Not kidding either. Retool it. Sounds like coldplay or something. Really quality work, could be near studio quality with more work.

Good tune. Has a "U2" feel to it. Especially at 0:45 when the electric comes in.

I like how the acoustics are panned and their rhythms play off each other. I don't know that the left guitar is too loud, but perhaps the right acoustic is too soft. I think you could bring up the right acoustic and still not step on the vox - given the acoustic's hard pan right.

I thought I heard some vox distortion in various places. One point that stands out is at 1:15 ("...look ON your face ...). But I'm at work on headphones so it may be an artifact of my situation.

I'd also like to hear the vocal a little hotter - maybe some compression.

I'd like to hear more of your stuff.

Hey P,
Very nice stuff man. I totally agree w/ the Coldplay comparison. ....I got that too. Nice job recording the acoustics. ...wish it could give ya more re: the ac. guit. panning but im at work on comp speakers. I really liked the scratchy percussion part in this. Totally appropriate and complimentary.
Very Nice work man. g

Hey, thanks for your comments everyone.

I am going to put some work into getting the balance right of the guitars. I am adding more compression to the left and lowering the volume

The vocals were actually a first take and there is a bit of clipping, I need to be in the right mood to get good vocals but I will be re-recording them.

I'm not a big coldplay fan but, hey, I'm not complaining about the comparison.

I hope to have my website up soon so you can here more of my stuff.

thanks,
Paul

I would probably, if anything find a compromise by bringing up the guitar on the right. The thing is, I actually like the depth that the current balance creates through most of the song. But when the other instruments are tacet, the imbalance is more obvious, and it feels somewhat awkward. It's a tough call, and I understand why you mixed it that way with the tracks you have. Personally I'd bring that right acoustic up about 3 dB's and call it good.

Again, beautiful song.

I enjoyed listening to this. Nice delivery on the vocals. I liked the bridge too.

edit
read "instrumental bit at the end' instead of bridge.

ditto on the "clean acoustic" props.

The scratch strum thang on the left could come down some

Nice vox. I'd experiment with some delay (and pan sweeping thereof) on the vox track to add a bit of cosmic luster.

Production wise (excuse my bold liberty, please ), I'd maybe add a new element. A lead part via guitar or sax type thing to take the song over the pass.

Nice tune and recording chops!!

Theron.

Another mix is up,

+ Cut the left guitar after chorus then brung it back in.
+ Tried to get the balance better.
+ Removed the 'off beat' bass drum parts
+ Added a few electric guitar solo bits at the end.

Same URL as before

Really terrific...right up my alley.

Didn't you post your "first" song a few weeks ago? I think I remember enjoying that one very much. Have it on a cd somewhere.

Keep it going!

Great sound. Great song. Great mix. It was funny - I was watching the song come close to the 2.18, and I was thinking 'this song really needs to return to the bit with the drums and guitar again but it's obviously running out of time'. LOL

Tight guitar work, nice vocal delivery. Good work. This one's ready to roll, I think.

If you wanted to add a harmony vocal, it would be lovely. But the song isn't suffering for lack of one.

I've got a rain song too, but it's really different from yours. Maybe I'll put it up here - a season of rain songs in the clinic.

Thumbs up weekend rain

Huh....very intensive song...and you have peculiar voice, which is always a good thing. And what comes to mixing: your choice to panning the acoustics, (I think) is right. (This way the guitars are separated well and every note can be heard...and as someone said here before: it's a part of this song's attraction

Its Sunny outside, beautiful day. I listen to most stuff kinda loud so I can hear everything it at a good volume. I was listening to this and some time after it was over I realized my eyes were closed and the song was finished, I musta got off on it pretty well so i re-ran it. I liked the mix and the fluidity of the tune. The guitar tone was good and natural sounding. Voice was good and smooth.
