Bought a Hammond!

After it was standing for over a year in our studio the owner finally decided to sell the damn thing......so now we have a cool tube hammond with big leslie!

Not a B3 (only a L122s with Leslie 910), but it sure sounds rrrhhhhaaawww and sqqquuueeeekkkkk

I played an L-100 with a Leslie 145 for a few years at my last church. Very very cool sound.

Post a pic when you get a chance. And don't forget to oil!

It actually went a little bit too much squeeck yesterday. The slow (chorale) setting of the leslie doesn't work anymore. I called a technician who said it problably is the read relay (?)

Anyway, I haven't paid the seller (who is a good friend) and am thinking of ditching the whole combination. My studiopartner was really eager to buy this thing, but my point of view was:

If you can use a hammond correctly, you probably have one yourself
If you don't have a hammond, you probably can't use it correctly. And a good sample might be better in the latter!

I guess this rule goes for most musicians...

I cdidn't mention that I really learned on the L-100. All that fake synth organ work was pretty weak preparation. It was still cool.

Do what you gotta, but they're great instruments for a killer price, and they last forever, with minimal maintenance - kinda like a VW. Since the deal's not final, maybe you can get the seller to pay the repair? Anyhow, great addition to a studio...

Well, it stood for a year in the studio, and it probably will stand there for another year, wether we buy it or not. It's one of those instruments that kind of keeps hanging on your behind like a turt that won't let go!
