mixing in Wurlitzer

just wanted some suggestions on how a WUlitzer should sit in a mix I am working on. There are 3 acoustic guitars. 2 12strings and 1 6string, bass, vox, and some hand drums, whichc need to be added yet. So, I know it is kinda hard without hearing the tune and all but wondering if anyone has any tips on making it sit niceely in the mix, especially with acoustic guitars and such. It is NOT carrying a main theme or anything in the song, but the song does break down to just the Wurlitzer and rather than only having it there, we decided to write a part for the tune. thanks for any info you might have! How could anyone say without hearing the tune??Heres a guess..Its a percusive melodic inst...blend it with the percussion..but theres really no way to know..Ya know..LOL..Good luck

You may want to do some subtractive EQ to keep it out of the way of all the acoustic guitars and the vox. Roll off some lower mids, and maybe some bottom as well. Then you can raise the gain without stepping on something else. Try panning it away from the center and see if that helps too.

If it sounds too stark, send it through a nice room program, which will also move it back a bit in the sound stage.

All this is just guessing, of course, without hearing exactly how it is functioning in the song - single note riffs, block chords, soloing, etc.

Secondly, really, its kind of a 'dumbass' way to ask a question, how the fuck should anyone know how to mix your song w/ out hearing it.

Try this:

Bass and Wurlizer in the center
Guitars wide stereo
Percussion stereo 2 oclock and 10 oclock

This way all the instruments have enough room in the mix
