Receiving errors when preparing master

When I go to back up my audio files for a song using the Prepare Master function, after a few files are shrunk, I receive an error message saying "open file error". Then, the audio on the file it got stuck on is gone! I've lost a track! Can anybody shed light on what went wrong? I used the same folder for the Prepare Master file as I used to save the song all along.

As an alternative, I've had to save each audio file by stacking them one by one into an Adaptec burn file, which is not very efficient.
