Amp/Speaker Questions

Right now I'm running a Crown CE-1000 power two JBL Eon 1500s. The eons are rated at 225 watts @ 8 ohms, and the amp does 280watts x 2 @ 8ohms.

The amp doess 900 watts @ 8 ohms bridged. How would I go about connecting this (say I want to add more speakers). Do I hookup output one to one of the speakons on the Eon, then hook the 2nd speakon to a speakon on the other Eon and so on?

I actually want to add some stage monitors but don't want to get another power amp until later on. The monitors I want are Carvin Wedges with 12" LF drivers. Will this work for now (having different brands of speakers in the same daisy chain)? How will the power be distributed to each speaker? Evenly?

Yes this is the way I would do it.

If you are running stereo, then daisy chain one monitor onto each EON. When you connect two speakers like this, they are connected parallel. Each amplifier will then see 4 ohms (assuming your monitors are 8ohms - which most are), and will deliver more power than it can into 8ohms. Your monitors will obviously be in stereo as well.

Bridging allows you to use both amplifiers when you are only feeding one channel (ie. mono). Connect speaker outs from both channels. You should connect equal impedence to each output. I think Bridging, simply bridges the amplifier inputs.

Or...you can feed one side of the power amp with mains (daisy chain your EONS together from one CH) and the other with monitors (daisy chain your monitors to the other CH). This is how our band often does it.

Good luck.
