ACID not recording in 24 bit

Can anyone tell me why ACID will not let me recordin in anything but 16 bit even with my Aardvark 24/96 24 bit audio card? When I go to record a track in acid, the 16 bit radio button is automatically chosen and the 24 bit button is not even accessible to choose.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
