I'm just coming over to digital sound editing. I know what I want to hear, however understanding how to get there using a package like sound forge takes some learning of audio engineering. Multiband and graphics dynamics processing, eq, compression, etc etc. Doing hit & miss with the pre-sets only goes so far, it would be nice to have real control. WHERE TO LEARN? Any suggestions?

Well, there's certainly a number of books on the basics of Pro Audio -- and it doesn't have to be "digital audio."
