Anyone Using a Roland 1680 with Cubase VST?

Hi. What I can’t figure out how to do is get the Roland 1680 to get tempo information from Cubase. I’ve read all the manuals (both Roland and Cubase) and have successfully synched them up via MTC, but I still have to set the tempo in the 1680 manually!
I know this shouldn’t be necessary! It seems that the Roland always wants to use it’s tempo map, and not look to MTC for the tempo.
Anyone have this working? What am I missing?
This is killing me?

Also, what is the difference between “rehearsal” and “ master” tempo in VST?

Thanks.
