Talking Two new tracks recorded on the VF160

My first attempt at an acoustic kit (Ekit up until recently). Everything done by me, recorded on my VF160 - see what you think...

Autumn
Wasting

sounds great!

i'm only playing on a cheap set of computer speakers, but it seems like a fairly noiseless recording. how do you keep it so quiet?

as for "Autumn", how many drum mics did you use? did you record in this in a sound room with special walls or anything or just a room in your house? how many voices are used for the harmonies in the very beginning?

Recorded in the Garage...

We converted our garage into a spare room (put up a studded wall etc). I've turned it into a studio in so far as I've put all my equipment in there, but I've not done anything special, it's just a normal room.

I have eight drum mics on the kit, one on each drum (snare, two toms, one floor, two on the bass, front and back skin). Then I have two overheads and that's it.

There are 5 vocals on the opening part of Autumn, then three throughout the song (plus a further three on the "yeah" bits of the chorus).

Glad you like the tracks - thanks for the feedback.

I downloaded Autumn expecting to hear Jazz. Instead, I get the Brit version of The Eagles. LOL Considering all that you had going on in the tune, Good job, Dude!

The only issue I have with Wasting is the snare seems too predominant IMHO. Otherwise, Good job!

Keep em coming...

Hey, Axe4Yahweh - I went and had a listen to your stuff. You got some major Blues happening there, It's not really my genre, so I may be way out - but I'm hearing a lot of Cream. Your guitar playing has a real relaxed feel to it, you play the blues effortlessly - it sounds great.

As for the Eagles reference - that's a new one, I've had Styx, but never the Eagles. My wife thinks it's a bit Kings X, which is more my kinda thing to be honest.

Thanks again for the comments.

Dave,
Only got to listen to Autumn, nice work. I think you need to bring the bass up a bit, I kept listening for a bass but rarely heard it at all. Overall very good tune!
It's kinda cool, this forum has become kind of an exclusive mp3 forum for fostex users. Not nearly as crowded!
