How do I set Vegas to record directly to disk , instead of streaming though ram?

I think this is OS control at a lower level than that supported by Vegas Pro. And why would RAM buffering at many times the transfer rate of even a fast HD interfere with (slow down) such HD transfer? The HD is still the bottleneck. RAM buffering simply allows the disk to get the data fed to it in the most efficient manner.
