Who wrote this song?
Back in the seventies I had a friend who used to play a song that I never took the time to learn, don't remember who wrote it and only remember a few lyrics.
A week or so ago, Buffalo Bob mentioned some words from Ogden Nash that made me think of the song. I'd like to find the lyrics somewhere, maybe someone here can help. The only lyrics I remember go something like this: Champagne don't make me crazy Cocaine don't make me lazy Aint nobody's business but my own Candys dandy But liquor is quicker You can catch all your liquor Down in Costa Rikker Aint nobody's business but my own Not exact I'm sure, but close enough. Any ideas? bd |

Regarding the difference in lyrics........The ones I quoted were probably written by my friend to "straighten" it up a bit.

Maybe I'm getting confused here and this is a different song but Mississippi John Hurt did a song pretty similar in 1928 called 'Ain't Nobody's Dirty Business'. I guess it's a traditional.

I wouldn't have a clue, I did find the covers mentioned above and they are exactly the tune I was thinking about. It would be interesting if the one you mentioned was the same tune.

Billy Holiday also recorded a song called Aint nobodys business which has a similar lyric I think
