how to copyright?

ok guys,

a conversation we had in a thread last week has got me concerned.

i "poor-man's" copyright all my work. but now i fear this is not good enough. ie. its not the bullet proof indisputable copyright technique i thought it was.

what steps do i need to take to properly copyright about 40 songs?

i have sheet music for them all already.

thanks for any guidance you can offer.

-alex

Alex,
Here's the website:

http://www.copyright.gov/register/performing.html

You can download the app. and use adobe reader to fill it out, print it and send it in with your music. I don't know how many songs they consider to be maximum, but I've done as many as 10 at a time. The website has all the information you need. When you do a "collection" you need to fill out the continuation sheet as well.
