Mics at the Grammy's

Watched the Grammy's last night and noticed a lot of acoustic instruments being miced with what appeared to be a SM-81? Anyone watching last night know for sure?

Well, bluegrass people use LDs live all the time, have 2 for the whole band, and everyone just moves in and out for the mix. Its really pretty sweet.

Yeah... I saw the 32's the Dixi Chicks sang into as well. Most of the instrument mics looked like 81's.... at least to me.

Yeah..noticed that right away...did ya notice the orchestra micing?...almost ALL neumann...km-184's all over the place...what looked like tlm-103's on the contra basses...a couple of what i thought might have been u67's and one up in the air in the center i couldnt tell what it was...it coulda been sony c-12...i thought the sound was really uneven for the most part...but they were bustin ass moving the sets so there ya go....love them shures...81's and ksm-32's...have started to see a lot of them lately on live stages...the show they've been airing on CMT lately with allison krause and union station was originally live, there was a ksm-44 on jerry douglas' dobro, an sm-81 on the fiddle, most everything else looked to be neumanns....beautiful sound on that show....

I did notice the Neuman's on the orchestra. Trying to remember.... did the mic the cello that accompanied James Taylor with an 81?

You know I though overall... the sound was better than average. Thought some of it was really good. Of course... some of it I turned completely down because about 15 seconds of rap is my maximum OSHA approved amount for safe operation...

What I'd like to know is, what mic did they use on the Norah Jones standup bass? Man, it sounded great.
