a couple of questions about my vf80

Hello everyone. I am really glad to have found this message board. I have a couple of questions concerning my vf80.

1 - On the fostex website there is a downloadable "update" for many of the recorders, including the vf80. What is this and how do i use it? even if i download it, i have no idea what to do with the file.

2 - I recently ordered a "ua 1d" adapter that allows me to send music to my computer through the sp/dif output into my usb port. When it arrives, can i use it in conjunction with any recording programs on my computer? if so, what program, and exactly how?

3 - How can i apply a final effect to only p a r t of a track?

If anyone can help me, i would Greatly appreciate it! thanks alot - sean

1.05

The latest software version for the VF80 is 1.05. If you just got your machine it is probably already installed.

I would suspect the SPDIF device you ordered can be used with any program -- just follow the same instructions pertaining to offloading via SPDIF to other recorders...

I don't know if you can apply an effect to only part of a track (by which I assume you mean a segment of one track...

if your vf80 will store "scenes" like the vf16 does you create scenes and an event map ... should have it in the manual. If you can buss record to another track the effect changes can be made realtime while recording to another track. your computer windows mixer will have a slider for spdif and soundblaster recording software and windows media recorder will as well.

someone at vf16.com might be able to help with a vf80

later, Jim
