Stuck In The 70s

I grew up listening to country, then discovered rock, which led me to the blues. Now you know my musical roots but for some strange reason none of my music sounds like any of these. my problem is lately everything ive come up with sounds like any of thousands of mass produced, quick sale, flash in the pan songs that flooded the market in the 70s. I'm in a rut and I need inspiration to get me moving on to something fresh. I mean it's 2000+ and I don't want to be left behind. I'd appreciate any ideas to get me moving into the future.

if you wanna jump into 2000+, listen to a bunch of music from today....play along.....find ones that you like and try to emulate it(the style).......
