Cool A few Q's about Moongel Pads

Ok, so i recently posted a thread about "how to get a good snare sound" and alot of people recommended Moongel Pads. I looked at them and they seem nice and realy cheap (in price) but i have a few Q's that i need anwsered.

1. I saw that they come in packs of 4. do you use all for on the snare if you need to, or will one do?

2. do thay last? or do you have to buy a new one every few months or so?

thanks,

zeke

I use just one on my snare. The great part about moongel pads is you can use as many or as few as you want. If even one is too much you can just cut it down to size no problem. They'll last a long time, I haven't had to replace mine yet and I've had them for maybe a year. If they get dirty just run them under water and they'll be like new!

Talking Moon gels are GREAT

Moon gels...

Gotta love em.
I have used them live and in the studio for 2 years. I bought one pack mainly to tame my snare and one pesky 12" tom, but later went back and bought another pack for the studio.
After 2 years they are still as good as new (with the aforementioned trip to the sink and dish soap).

What is cool is with a little experimentation you can get so many different types of sounds out of one snare drum.
One closer to edge= a little ring / a little pitch.
One 2" in kills pitch.
(1) 1" in and a 2nd 2" in at quarter points gives you a fat dry snare.
Try them Zeke you won't be dissapointed.
Muffle rings like Zeros put off a buzzing / flutter soud when you close mic but the moongels are dead quiet / small, unobtrusive and stick on someones forehead when you throw it at them!

Cool

Ditto. They work like nothing else, and are great in the studio.

Moon Gel is one of the best drum inventing since plastic heads.

As already mentioned they are re-usable and washable.

What I really like about them is that you can move a pad (or a half pad, etc) a little this way or that way and get a different sound.

When I worked in a drum shop we all used Moon Gel and we all recommended it to everyone - unfortunately that meant we could never keep it in stock, since we sold it as fast as we got it.
